Blessings in a Backpack
When school dismisses on Friday, 15.8 million children will leave their classroom, uncertain whether they will have enough food to eat that weekend. Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry. Each Friday of the school year, thousands of volunteers across the country are sending home a bag of food with children who face hunger over the weekend.
We're collecting food donations for a school in Chicago, so kids in our own community don't have to go hungry next weekend. Our goal is to pack 36 bags, and we need your help!
You can buy an item off our Amazon.com wish list with your Amazon or Prime account and ship it to the NFTY office (it takes five minutes!), or pick up one of the items on our list (in any quantity) at the grocery store and bring it to Congregation Beth Am (1370 Abbott Ct, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089) by April 27th, or to the event with you.
